Hi Dr Lam,
Thank you for providing this forum.
I am a 37 year old male with slighlty thinning hair on the crown of my head. I want to start taking Rogaine or Propecia, but wasnt sure which is the best over-the-counter option.

I was considering the "Foam-Rogaine Hair Regrowth Treatment". Is there a better product, or additional products i should use? (Shampoo, Conditioner, Pills, etc.)

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my hair loss questions. I have been searching online for several months, but get too confused with everything i read. I appreciate your expert advice.

hi,
first, only rogaine is over the counter. finasteride works very well in the crown but requires a prescription. i truly believe those are the only two products that doing anything substantive. there are a ton of "over the counter" remedies. forget them all. they don't work or have at least not been proven to work.

rogaine foam works just as well as liquid but can be easier to style and less irritating since they removed propylene glycol. if you are thinning in the front, you should double, triple, or quadruple the dose and get it spread over all areas of thinning. the package insert only talks about the crown since initial studies were conducted in that area but it works everywhere on the scalp as new studies have indicated.

Well there are many medicines that helps you in regenerate your hair but yeah as sadi medical guidance is a must.
