Dr. Lam,
This is my second post as I posted another thread on repair work from a previous surgeon in your area. I have to say watching your videos and reading your blogs, etc you have really impressed me with your overall caring and strive to be the best as well as educate the public (where were you in 1988?- when I needed a professional and not a snake oil salesman..lol).
I would like to address something I think will appeal to a majority of you're clientel as well as existing patients...hair density. I as among others have seen these slick video presentations on t.v. to Dvd's they send out and if you notice one thing they have in common?...I'll tell you- they always show before/afters of patients with great donor and existing hair..which I find not both sides of the coin. There are as many (if not more) men/women out there with light/dark fine to baby fine hair and we NEVER see a success story on these people?. Having the fine hair is just as much common as thick hair but I know the results look more astounding..I just find it misleading at best not to show true reality of both sides. I'm sure you have had excellent results/coverage with patients with fine hair, etc.
I defy you to google or look at any other site and it will be the model types more than the average person who consults your office as well. How many do you actually turn down?..I know you also use body hair (i.e. chest, etc) which I'm sure makes for a even better result. We just live in times (with recession) now that HT's are a dime a dozen cattle call like procedure with franchise clinics to backroom Doctors doing these procedures. When I came to Dallas in 1988 there were only 2 or so clinics and trust me you paid for it!. I was well schooled when picking a surgeon and got taken advantage of and robbed me emotionally and financially (I can always make a dollar..but you can't get your time back) which caused me and still does severe depression as I was robbed of every day activities because the embarrassment I felt/feel.
I have lived with this aftermath for 21 yrs and counting and lost those 21 yrs where I could have been more productive and I'll never know as I am approaching 42 and my hats are my safe haven as well as security blankets..it should not be this way. I spent over 20k back in the day (1988) and now you can get it done for nearly half that. As I said watching your blogs and reading your materials you seem to have it together. I live in Oklahoma City and would love to come in for a consultation to ease this situation and put a end once and for all to a 21 yr old problem and live out the rest of my fullest with the confidence I had as a teenager...thanks for reading.
Best-
Shawn
